to implement a replicable model of energy sustainability in Cernier(Switzerland), Hartberg (Austria), Hvar (Croatia) and Lapua (Finland) by 2015 and thereby significantly reduce CO 2 emissions,
to mobilise private and public resources for the implementation of examples of communities which are sustainable in terms of energy, and immediately replicable on a European scale,
to implement innovative solutions such as decentralised electricity storage or studies on consumer behaviour,
to demonstrate that sustainable solutions in the field of energy respond to the economic, environmental and social needs of communities,
to increase the efficiency of measures taken by stimulating the use of sustainable solutions and through the involvement of consumers and other stakeholders,
to share the acquired experiences and know-how between communities,
to transfer the knowledge within the frame of the European Commission’s Concerto Initiative for use in other projects, to disseminate the results in a form which is attractive and user friendly for institutions, organisations and industry throughout Europe in order to stimulate future initiatives,
to look for synergies with other Concerto projects and other local initiatives.
