Niittypuisto, currently a residential apartment block, will be renovated and transformed into a home for the elderly and the disabled. The renovation will include changing windows and doors to more energy efficient ones, increasing insulation in all exterior surfaces and installing a mechanical air ventilation system with heat recovery. Also the current inefficient radiators will be partially replaced by under floor heating and partially by more efficient radiators. The goal is to achieve a building in which the energy efficiency is higher than the current Finnish standard.
